About | Ivan studied architecture at the Technical University of Delft in The Netherlands. After a successful career as an architect in New York and Los Angeles, he decided to change his career path. Ivan set up a sculpture studio in Leipzig, the German city of art. He places high importance on the materials he uses. Mostly he sources it at the destination he finds himself at that moment. Ivan lives part-time in Germany and Italy, where he explores ruins and their stories. The secret to his succes? Inspiration combined with willpower, they will get you where you want to be.

Achievements | As a sculptor Ivan created various large scale works which are exhibited nationally and internationally. His installation ‘Birth of Apollo’ was exhibited at the Amsterdam sculpture biennale ARTZUID 2019 and specially made for this exhibition. It contained various ballet dancer sculptures based on Balanchine's choreography ‘Apollon musagète’. On ARTZUID 2021 Ivan has a solo exhibition at the Thomaskerk called ‘Origins’, a response to the story found within the architecture of this church: a brutalist masterpiece finalised in 1966 by architect Karel Sijmons, Ivan’s grandfather.
